Massachusetts Nurses Association Press Conference May 20, 2020

Appearing outside of Cambridge Hospital yesterday, leaders of the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) drew attention to measures annunciated in a petition which they presented to Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) CEO Assaad Sayah.  The nurses say the purpose of the petition is “to sound the alarm about dangerous conditions that threaten the safety of CHA patients, staff and their families during the pandemic.”

The MNA petition calls for hazard pay, cites an inadequate and insufficient supply of PPE, and urges COVID-19 testing be extended to nurses and all on-site, essential healthcare workers – administrative and custodial staff as well.

In their written release, the MNA states their petition has the support of 72% of the 770 nurses who work in Cambridge Hospital, Somerville Hospital and Everett Hospital, which are members of the CHA.
